Project Breakdown

With gambling being contrary to the principles of Islam, Swansea Mosque has refrained from all National Lottery related grants. Therefore we are dependent of public donations and to date (July 2011) we have raised £691,512.  This is primarily from the generous contributions from the Muslim community within Swansea and UK-wide.

Phases 1 and 2 have now been completed.  For Phase 3; we have £220,000 (July 2011) of the £600,000 required and we are appealing for your donations and Qard-e-Hasana (Interst free loans) to raise the remaining £380,000 needed.

Phase 3 has been divided into sub-phases, 3a and 3b. Phase 3a will cost £320,000 and 3b will cost £280,000 (approx.). Phase 3a will build the foundation, basement and basic structure of the new building to be erected at the rear section. Phase 3b, will comprise of completing the structure of the whole building (ie all 4 floors).

Did you know charity can also be performed in other forms which are non-monetary such as voluntary work, helping others, or using one's talents and skills for good causes. In Islam any good work or deed is regarded as an act of charity.

The Prophet (peace be upon him ) said: "And your smiling  is charity; your removing of stones and thorns from people's paths is charity, (to avoid potential threat from their way) and your guiding a person gone astray in the world is charity".
