Introduction

Our current Mosque located at 14-15 St. Helens Road, comprises of two terraced buildings and it has been serving the whole Muslim Community since the 80’s. Current Swansea Mosque - facilities overwhelmedThe Muslims of Swansea, Al-Hamdulilah, have worked hard to deliver the message of Islam to the non-Muslim community at large. We enjoy positive relationships with all communities within our locality. The mosque endeavours to provides a whole host of activities that have consequently resulted in increased interest in Islam and a number of revert brothers and sisters embracing Islam.

Services even to non-Muslims such as informative mosque tours consist of a guide to Islam and outlines the functions of the mosque and has been very popular with local schools over the years.  Due to the expanding population we are now in a position where we are unable to accommodate the growing ummah for prayers (salah), education classes, dawah, community activities and even jumma.

The Proposed Project

Our beloved Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) tells us: "Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah's pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise." [Bukhari]

Insha-Allah our aim is to move to our New Mosque by Ramadan 2010 Insha-Allah. We are in the process of converting one the largest ecclesiastical church buildings in Swansea City Centre into a Masjid for all our brothers and sisters. The new building will provide prayer spaces (approx. 1,500+) and facilities to re-engage the Muslim and non-Muslim community through educational facilities, Dawah activities, youth recreational facilities and many other interesting 21st century services to invogorate and enrich our 21st century ummah.

Allah (swt) declares in the Qur’an: “Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the substance whereof He has made you heirs. For those of you who believe and spend (in charity); for them is a great Reward”. (Al-Hadeed 57:7)

The Prophet PBUH said: “When a person dies, then their good deeds come to an end except for three: a Sadaqa Jariah (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them”. Narrated by Muslim.

Donations

We are appealing to you to come forward with your kind donations to help complete the Masjid construction. Every penny you donate will be counted by Allah (swt) as sadqa-e-Jaria. You will share in the reward of all good deeds in the Mosque: every salah (namaz), every child and adult that learns the deen, every shahada (when a person embraces Islam), every Nikah performed and every service given in the Cause of Allah.

Al-humdulilah, we have already raised more than £400,000 with which by the grace of Allah, we have completed ‘Phase I’ and ‘Phase II’ is due to completion in Dec 09. We need to raise funds to start ‘Phase III’ of the construction. We need your help to achieve this, please come forward and take part in this noble cause.

"The likeness of those who spend their wealth in Allah's way is as the likeness of a grain which grows seven ears. In every ear a hundred grains. Allah gives increase many fold to whom He wills. Allah is All Embracing, All Knowing." Holy Quran [2:261]

Sayings Of The Prophet (S)

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said : the messenger of Allah said :

"Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices one to another; do not hate one another; do not turn away from one another; and do not undercut one another, but be you, O servants of Allah, brothers. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim: he neither oppresses him nor does he fail him, he neither lies to him nor does he hold him in contempt. Piety is right here-and he pointed to his breast three times. It is evil enough for a man to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. The whole of a Muslim for another Muslim is inviolable: his blood, his property, and his honour."

Did you know: Contact between the British Isles and Muslims dates back to the 8th century: The powerful Anglo-Saxon, King Offa of Mercia minted his currency bearing the Islamic inscription ‘There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his Messenger” (Shahada -declaration of Islamic faith).
